Each year the Little Hands, Big Hearts mission in Honduras tries to fill 100 or more backpacks with school supplies for needy children in the Trujillo area. Most families can only afford to have one or two children in school and many of them cannot afford to purchase a school uniform and school supplies. Those who are registered in school and have a uniform are supplied with a backpack if needed. Can you help encourage a child to stay in school and learn?
School Supplies Needed:
This is a good time to purchase school supplies while many stores are having special “back to school” sales. Here are the things that go in each backpack:
- Pink erasers
- Crayons (24 packs)
- Colored pencils
- Hand pencil sharpener
- Pencils (#2)
- Pens (inexpensive)
- Children’s scissors (Fiskar brand preferred)
- Glue sticks
- White glue (4 oz.)
- Rulers (plastic or wood, inches & metric)
Supplies needed at the developmental preschool at LHBH:
- Dry erase markers
- Colored markers
- Sharpies (all colors and sizes)
- Construction paper (all sizes and shapes)
In addition to these supplies, LHBH purchases about 600-800 theme books which are very inexpensive because they come from neighboring Guatemala. If you wish to make a donation for purchasing these theme books make your check payable to the “Summit View Church of Christ” and place “LHBH School Supplies” in the memo section of your check.
